Phyllis Goodsell Lane Baldwin, 89, of Guilford, died on April 26, 2012. Born in Bridgeport, CT on December 11, 1922, Phyllis was the daughter of the late Alice Beach Seeley Lane and Roland Goodsell Lane. She graduated from Harding High School in 1940, attended the University of Connecticut and the Katherine Gibbs School. She worked at Sikorsky Aircraft before her marriage. In 1960 she began working for the Trumbull Board of Education where she stayed until 1988 when she retired from her role as administrative assistant to the Associate Superintendant of Schools. An active church member all her life, she served in leadership positions on the vestry and as church warden, and participated on advisory committees at the state level. She was an avid reader, bird-watcher, enjoyed sewing and knitting, but above all she loved gatherings with family and friends. She is survived by her children: son, George H. (Buzz) Baldwin II and his wife Jill of Simsbury, daughter Penelope Rebuzzini and her husband Peter of Guilford, and her grandchildren: Emily Gates and her husband Chris of Eustis, FL; Reed Baldwin and his wife Stephanie of Turners Falls, MA; Margaret Rebuzzini of Guilford; and her great-granddaughters: Abbie and Amelia Gates of Eustis, FL. She was predeceased by her daughter Pamela Baldwin, and her siblings Roland G. Lane, Jr., Monson S. Lane, Sr. and Althea L. Landon. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, May 4, 2012 at 2:00pm in the First Congregational Church, 122 Broad St., Guilford. Burial will be private. Phyllis gave to many causes; to honor her memory donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
