Obituary:
Joseph N. Celano, Age 70, beloved husband of Carmella Manzi Celano, departed this world on Monday, July 23, 2012. Born December 6, 1941 in New Haven, Connecticut to Frank Celano and Mary Funaro Celano. He was a machinist and toolmaker who worked for several companies, retiring from Bayer Pharmaceuticals in 2004. His first love was his wife and family, followed by his love of horses, which he got to fully enjoy after his retirement. Teaching his granddaughters to ride brought him great pleasure. He was a talented machinist, and could build or fix anything under the sun. He was a kind and gentle spirit, with a quiet strength and unassuming manner. His smile was ever present and infectious. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. He was a faithful communicant of Saint George's Catholic Church in Guilford, Ct.
He was predeceased by his twin sister, Mary Celano DeGrand. He leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Carmella; son Joseph (Leslie) Celano of Killingworth; daughter Mary (Tony) Bishop of Carrollton, TX; granddaughters Catherine and Elizabeth Celano of Killingworth; and Olivia Bishop of Carrollton, TX. He is survived by sister Carmel (Steve) Mrowka of Cheshire; brothers Frank (Annette) Celano of North Haven; John (Jude) Celano of Milford; Peter (Sandy) Celano of North Haven; James Celano of Bunnell, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
His family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of the Smilow Cancer Center's 11th floor for their compassion and heartfelt care during Joe's lengthy illness.
