Zenna Pappacoda, 93, of Guilford, widow of Lawrence Pappacoda, died Sunday, July 22, 2012 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Born October 24, 1918. Zenna was the daughter of Theresa Pascale and the biological daughter of Zeni Paesce Pascale and Joseph Pascale. Zenna was a graduate of Stone Business College. Zenna was the author of Men and Marriage and Momma Says. She was a wonderful friend mother and quite the social butterfly! She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Ladies Auxiliary, the lunch bunch of Guilford Senior Center and the Hearth. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Zenna worked at the Senior Center of Guilford until the age of 87.
Mother of Nick (Diane) Pappacoda, and Laura (Jerry) Elliot. Grandmother of Michael (Cathy) Melillo, Joe (Deborah) Dempsey, Alison (Paul) DeAlmeida, Amy (Keoll) Shea, Mandy (Jennifer) Lund, Adam Pappacoda, special grandma to Adam and Tom Cost. She has 12 great grandchildren. Sister of Eva (Pinky) Nuzzo, sister in law of Sydell Pascale. She leaves many friends, nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff who loved and cared for Zenna at the Hearth in Branford, especially, Bob, Linda, Verna, Renele, Adam, Rick, Kevin, Nikki, Alberto, Charlene and Theresa. Zenna leaves many friends including her favorites, Bob (Mike)and Ruth, Cindy, Sue, Lil, Kendra, Dale, Maryann, Judy, Theresa, Beatrice, Jo Anne, Tina ,Anne, Jackie and Tom and a very special thank you to the staff of St Raphael’s, especially her “granddaughter” and nurse Michelle, who lovingly and faithfully was with Zenna every step of the way. The family also wishes to thank Hospice for their kind and loving gift of a comfortable passage. Zenna was predeceased by her brother Frank Pascale, and her sister Phyllis Urtel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. George Church, 33 Whitfield St, Guilford on Thursday, July 26 at 10 am. Burial will follow Mass in St. George Cemetery, Hubbard Rd, Guilford. Friends may call Wednesday, July 25 from 5 – 8 pm at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford.
